“Autumn Repose” reflects a moment of stillness along a lakeside in southern China, where architecture, stone, and water settle into a quiet seasonal harmony. I was drawn to the way autumn light softens the edges of the pavilion and warms the rugged cliff, creating a dialogue between human craftsmanship and the natural world. Through watercolor’s gentle diffusion, the scene becomes contemplative rather than literal—a space where time slows, colors deepen, and the viewer is invited into a pause. This work is an exploration of tranquility, of how a familiar landscape can hold both memory and renewal in the turning of a season.
