Students will learn how to use pastels following a modeled lesson on how to draw, blend and add value: highlights and shadows. Student will create a few pieces in the time allotted. Subjects will include a Still-Life, enlarged flower, inspired by artist Georgia O’Keeffe, experimental marks, and a chicken or rooster.
About the Instructor:
Aly Grober is both an artist and educator in Fort Worth with over 14 years of teaching experience. Students have come out of her art classes feeling empowered and more confident to embrace their creativity. “One of my favorite quotes by Pablo Picasso is “It took me 4 years to paint like Raphael, but a lifetime to paint like a child.” As an educator, it is always such a thrill to witness a child’s inner curiosity and see the joy on their faces as they create. I am excited to provide a safe creative space where students can explore their abilities, make marks, paint, splatter, have fun with materials and textures and just enjoy the process of being creative.
Suggestions from Mrs. Aly:
-Students should wear comfortable clothing that they do not have concern about pastels getting on. Art is a process that often gets messy, which is part of the fun.
-All supplies are included.
-Pastels Session 1 is geared toward younger aged students, while Session 2 is for students aged 9-13.
