I've experienced the fear of losing old habits because they are so comfortable. When I get out of my comfort zone, I also experience a sort of free floating anxiety about what I will be like without my old habits. I don't even know myself. My separation anxiety isn't about losing people, places, or things. It's about losing my old self before I know who my new self is.
