painting full time. She has participated in area art organizations, serving on several boards.

across the country.

What does my Art mean?

Discovery is a major part of my process. I work intuitively to discover color interactions and

variety in lines. My surfaces get toned with a brilliant red and I use multiple tools to scrape away layers of the paint I apply. The red surface then functions as gestural lines in the piece.

Colors, layers of paint and mark making are the foundation for my paintings. Working in acrylic on canvas and experimenting with abstract dialogue is my “yang.

Alternately, I work with vintage photos and collage materials weaving paint with the mixed media materials. These pieces are my ‘yin’  Working back and forth completes me.

Blurred edges and shapes of many papers as well as vintage photographs represent the many

layers of our lives. Our lives are a series of layers that can be scraped away and rebuilt. During

our lifetime, we are constantly adding and subtracting- which is my primary process. Using an

abstract format inspired by Nature’s shapes and lines, I try to reveal what can be discovered in

the lines and layers of color and leave the narrative open for the viewer to finish.
