Greeting Card Gelli Print Class for Beginners
October 25, 1-4 pm, $40
This class is perfect for beginners. Gelli Prints are a fun easy way to explore simple printmaking techniques. In this class, we will make Gelli prints focusing on using masks to create prints, then each participant will use the prints to create a set of greeting cards.
Gelli printing is a fascinating process that involves creating artwork by transferring paint from a plate onto paper. One of the intriguing aspects of printmaking is the potential for unexpected outcomes. Due to the nature of the process, such as variation in paint, pressure, or the absorbency of the paper, the result can often surprise the artist. Warning: this is addictive!

I am filled with wonder when I see afternoon sunlight slanting through the trees, a thunderstorm building in the west, or a sunflower standing tall against a perfect blue sky. These moments are my inspiration. My art will never compare to these moments of awe, but I strive to capture the beauty that causes me to stop and look.
Creating art has always been important to me, but it became more important after I was diagnosed with cancer, two times. I am blessed to have survived, but these experiences have changed me. I’m not sure how cancer affects my art, but I know it affects my desire to create. I am thrilled to have the energy and drive to continue making art.
Currently, I paint with oil on canvas, but I also enjoy printmaking. Working in oil allows me to explore rich and vibrant colors, while creating prints with acrylic gives me the opportunity to experiment with different textures and techniques.
